- Step Three: Use water as a lubricant for the first few strokes on each side of the food processor’s blades so that they can glide easily over the surface of the stones/sharpener without getting stuck by dried residues such as dough bits, rice grains, and other bits of food debris.
- Step Four: Gently run the blades over the sharpener’s two flat surfaces, one side at a time, until they are smooth again on both sides. If you have to do this process more than once or twice, use fresh water each time for lubrication and/or add some oil as an additional lubricant.
- Step Five: Test the blades for sharpness by slicing a piece of paper with them and then running over one side until it’s totally smooth again.

The best thing you can do is contact the company and ask for a replacement set of blades. They’re going to want to know specifics about what happened, but they might not always replace it if you accidentally cut yourself or something like that.
The worst thing you can do to keep using your machine as-is! This causes more damage and makes things worse in the long run.
Ninja food processors are really awesome products, but they can be dangerous if not cared for properly!
How Do You Sharpen a Breville Food Processor Blade?
I had an experience on How to sharpen a Breville food processor blade. I have a Breville Sous Chef 12 Cup Food Processor and the blades were getting dull. I was looking for ways to make them sharper but didn’t want to invest in another set of blades if this one wasn’t salvageable.
After doing some research, it turns out that you can actually sharpen the blades with a diamond hone! The process is pretty simple and only takes about 10 minutes per blade.
- I started with the bottom blade first, as I had cleaned and dried it.
- You will need a diamond hone (I used this one ), dish soap or other lubricants, lukewarm water, paper towel to dry blades after sharpening.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/180 degrees Celsius.
- Put about an inch of warm water in a shallow pan on the stovetop and add some dish soap for lubrication.
- Place each blade in turn into the hot soapy liquid for at least 15 seconds – be careful not to let them touch anything else while immersed! The second they are done soaking you can place them onto a clean section of paper towel until you’re ready to sharpen them.
- Be careful not to overdo it or you might end up shaving off too much metal. You can use multiple hones if necessary.
*Note: Breville’s original instructions came with clear diagrams but I will do my best to explain how I did this project myself.
